Liklukt - Bay of Kings

Whenever you know anything or not about the tragedies that went down in Ester 1 mine (i sure dont know anything about it) you will get into this album with ease that if you like "turn-of-the-century" death metal!
... Well to only say "turn-of-the-century" would be wrong because many tracks has a old school vibe to them...

With a precis sound production that is very much crystal clear and violent but not overly clinical Liklukt slashes through each song with much strength & groove.
All hell break lose in an oceanic fashion!

Most songs goes in mid or slightly over mid temp with much variations in the guitar department as well as the blasting drums, vocals is in mid growling but feels a bit more old school then the actual music as well as it could also fit some black metal bands but it works just as great.

It is not directly death & roll like Entombeds great "Uprising" or the alike but quite close anyways, the headbanger itch pops up more then often.

As i dont know any others how claims the "King" of bays i can easily agree with Tapir & Sigar that they are the Bay of Kings!
Blasting waves of death between your ears!
This is one album to sink the hook into!
Embrace the black cold liquid depths!

Kryptus - Doom Night Warrior

Here we have the first demo "Doom night Warrior" from Australian based Kryptus!
The name of the game here is blackened noise with a hint of black metal.

The name Kryptus is very fitting for two reasons, one: it sounds like this is a secretly recorded (in safe distance) ritual in a damp crypt.
Two: the actual music/sound/noise is cryptic and unwelcoming but given some time and not
trying to actually listen to it the sound landscapes glides through your mind in a hypnotic way and for me
it was meditative in a creative way.... in other words it helped me to come into my right mood to draw/paint some art.

Its sound waves does not overpower the nerves/ears like some noise that goes for blasting your brains out instead this has a lurking hostile lumbering essence to it that draws you in and down the hatch. Distant metal chuggs and witching howls...

--No way out--

Track List:

1. Realm of true black Evil
2. Doom night Warrior
3. Death march to Armageddon

A split with Entsetzlich is in the works also.

ESKHATON Interview!

1.Hails! How is your burning summer so far Invokocide?
Any band activities?

- Hails Raw War, maniacs, we have been writing death, while Abyssnil learnt the bass parts of the recorded material for live shows.  We will record a new EP, near the end of the year, followed by the next full length sometime later on in 2015.  The EP tracks will be exclusive.  More live shows will be planned.

2.As i understand you played your first gig Eskhaton ever now in April around the same time as your second album also was released? How did it go from your viewpoint? Any electronic problems? Nerves?
and how was the overall mood with all those band in the backstage?
Any drama?
- The show went well although there was only one foldback speaker for the band which couldn't be heard anyway and the PA systems reverb wouldn't work.  There is no backstage area at that venue.  No nerves or drama, only psychotic savagery.  It was wicked to blast our chaos live for the first time.

3.Regarding Eschatology thats a part of the theology of the absolute end of life/time etc, is
your viewpoint from any specific religion/mysticism or do you grasp it as an overall fate of mankind regarding any beliefs?
And do you see life as cyclic death & reborn process until it all ends with nothingness left or do you believe that the total death/end is just for this era and something "else" will take place afterwards?
- It is the inescapable fate of life and it's realms.  The Gods of life will perish.  The end is not a beginning point.  If another era occurred the Eskhaton is still to come.  It includes all dimensions, extra-dimensional beings, the multiverse, every fucking thing known and unknown crushed to nothing till the void, motionless.  Death is ultimate.  Self devouring darkness.  Alone as inexistence, timeless, in frozen perfection.  The Devils will devour all.  Die.
4.An obvious statement but your music is fitting very well this metaphorically end of time with its thundering chaos & destruction that fills the sulphuric air! But after creating or unleashing
a song does it makes you calmer personally or in other words is the effect cathartic?

- We are filled with the burning hatred of demonic madness that cannot be diminished.

5.Have you thought about or spoken to some band regarding to do a split in the future?
- Yes we've thought about it but nothing has been planned.

6.How was it to grow up in Australia as someone that was heavy into metal? Anyone who tried to get you into some religion? Some nice priest? hehe
- We've had some killer psycho shows I attended over the last twenty years or so in Australia, national and international bands.  Some of the more killer overseas bands I can recall are Slayer, Incantation, Diocletian, Morbid Angel, Marduk, Archgoat amonst many others, plus Carcass this year.  I am and always will be against God, heaven and the sheep.  Nice priest?  fuck no, only good priest is a dead priest.  Crush the priest... the feeble church.

7.Great artwork from César Valladares on the new album by the way!
How was he to work with and did you get the original artwork? Would look great on the wall!
- Hail César!  The artwork is the perfect representation of Worship Death, would like to have the original, yes it would be killer amongst the blood and bones.  César is very easy to work with, and he doesn't waste any time working through the nights like a crazed maniac of the dark arts.
8.When will the DEVILMENT 7inch Ep be released? And will the first two albums be released on vinyls also?
- Devilment will be released by Martyrdoom Productions coming soon, everything is ready to go.  Yes the Nihilgoety LP will be released by Martyrdoom Productions also still to come.  Chaos Records will have the Worship Death LP released, it is just having the artwork layout completed by César and it will be sent to press following that.

9.So your next show will be at the Fimbulwinter thing? (30/08/14) Where is at? The line up looked great as well!
 - Fimbulwinter is happening at Valhalla bar in Wellington New Zealand Saturday August 30th.  We look forward to rip the place apart with the help of the New Zealand Death hordes, Heresiarch, Sabbatic Goat, Vesicant and more.  Prepare for total death.

10.Thanks for answering these questions! Best of bloodiest luck to you now!
- Worship Death or Fuck Off!

Liklukt Interview!

1. Greetings!
Hows the summer treating you?
...this time a year i guess the corpses smell the worst! hehe

- That is very true, haha. We are plagued with the hottest summer in recorded times here in Norway, and we're barely holding on. Good thing our rehearsal space is in an old bunker with 2 m thick walls.

2. So i saw you wrote (on FB) that Liklukt has its 20th anniversary this year! Damn that quite some time!
As i did my homework on Liklukt i saw that your first release "Anal Hell" got out in 1995 but then there was a huge rift in space & time until 2004 for the next one.

Was it just life that got in your way or was it other band/projects that became the main priority?

- Twenty years is a long time indeed, but we have always had a relaxed view on the concept of time when it comes to Liklukt. We just keep doing what we do, which is make pretty standard death metal inspired by the first few bands we listended to, combined with some more recent influences here and there.
The first demo Anal Hell was a pretty raw affair, with main themes shamelessly ripped off from the bands we listened to at the time; Cannibal Corpse and Sepultura. The reason for the following long gap in our output was that we made two or three more demos during that time frame which were not good enough to release. One is lost forever, and the other one is sadly somewhere. Hopefully it will never see the light of day.

Combine that with studies and the legendary slow working process for Liklukt, and you got your answer.

3.Then you released one demo each year until the second rift,
what happen under the 5-6 years until you created this first
Liklukt album "Bay of Kings"?

- The lineup for recordings has for the last fifteen years been me and Cigar, and at that point in time me and Cigar moved to separate parts of the country, and the Liklukt progress slowed almost to a halt. it just picked up again when Cigar finally moved to Trondheim where I live, and we got ourselves a rehearsal room again. This new found vigor propelled the process forward to recording Bay of Kings.
Now we are back to a standard crawl pace again, but at least we are being somewhat productive, as we already have some new songs written and ready to go for the next release. Whether some label will release it or if we'll have to go back to the demo world is anyone's guess at the moment.

4. While talking about this debut album please describe its themes
and story!

- Well, it's pretty uninteresting stuff for non-Norwegians, as it basically deals with a series of incidents in the end of the 60's culminating in a big mining accident on Svalbard, prompting the famous Gerhardsen led government to resign.
The story itself isn't long enough to do a whole concept album of in itself, so we tried to picture it in general terms from the workers' side as well. The title track is our tribute to the workers and their families.
We are not in itself a political band on any level, we just try to tell the story from our perspective.

5. Would it be fair to say that your meaty death metal stands with one foot in fairly old-school death metal and the other in rather modern punchy death metal?
And have your style transformed somehow from the start to now besides just getting technically better?

- Well, we never looked on our approach as old school at all, until it suddenly struck me that our main inspirational albums came out 20 years ago.
When I think about old school I still think early Death, Entombed etc. Our main influences starting out were primarily Tomb of the Mutilated and Chaos AD, then Slaughter of the Soul and The Bleeding shortly after. Those were not old school then, but they might be now, I don't really know.
We have just stuck with that style. As time and influences has gone by, I would say that our main goal is to make the bastard child of Slaughter of the Soul, Litany and The Bleeding in album form. We are still way off, so we got lots of work ahead of us. We are also trying to get that "turn of the millennium" production we mostly listened to in our early years, right between the era of under- and overproduction.

6. Do you have any personal experience with submarines?

- Sadly, no. It would be huge for us to be in one, but so far we have to make do with Discovery documentaries and various submarine movies.

7. Any compilation album in the plans on all the past demos?

- Not really. They three latest ones are all still downloadable for free on our webpage, www.liklukt.com, and it would be too expensive and more or less a waste of time to do so. Those three latest demos were all printed in 100 copies and given away for free, and that's where it will end in that regard. I doubt there is a huge market for them anyway.
We will probably re-record some of those tracks for future releases, as some of them are deserving of a better production.

8. Is there some gigs coming up this year for you?

- No gigs, I'm afraid. We are busy and lazy old men, and seeing that there are only two of us, there would be a huge undertaking getting a live act together.
There have been only two Liklukt gigs in total during those 20 years, and those were all over ten years ago.

9. Thanks for this little investigation!
Best of luck now out on the seven seas!

- Likewise, thanks a ton for the interview \m/

Kryptus Interview!

1. Hails and greetings Skull Moon!
How is your gloomy day?

- Hails to RAW WAR!! Thank you for this interview.
My days… just another foot forward into the grave!

2. As I understand Kryptus is a new entity, when did it surface?
And describe Kryptus cracked soul.

- Kryptus was envisioned in the earlier months of 2014, the first demo released at the start of July.
The “music” of Kryptus is black metal/noise, absolute fucking darkness is audio format.

3. How do the creation process look like for this kind of black noise?

- I create & I destroy…

4. What kind of equipment do you use?

- A poorly tuned Jackson flying V copy, Yamaha bass, distortion & reverb pedals, low quality microphone, distorted voice & ominous sound samples/recordings.

5. How would you say the personal risk & reward is for you after completing a Kryptus spell?

- The darkness escapes my being, and it leaves its impression on others.
The shadow spreads…

6. As for the nice dark fitting raw art/design do you do that yourself too?

- All artwork for Kryptus is created by myself, it first began purely as an art project, the “music” developed from there. The artwork on the first demo “Doom Night Warrior” was taken from a sketch I created, which was influenced by the great Krawczyk Stanislav & his dark arts. logo of Kryptus is though by Bloodoak from Mardraum.

 7. Is there some split on the foggy horizon for Kryptus?

- Yes, a split is in the works with another Australian band, Entsetzlich – the split which will feature slightly more refined version of tracks from the demo tape as well as all new Entsetzlich tracks. Should be out later this year via Wolfsvuur Records.

8. How has the response been for the debut tape?

- Limited copies (14) were made available, and all have sold out. Mostly via trades with likeminded individuals. Response has been good, people seem to find black metal & noise an intriguing combination.

9. How does the rest of the year look like?

- This year will see some more releases, a split and possibly another demo tape as well before this year ends.

10. Thanks for this interrogation Skull Moon!

- Thanks to you RAW WAR Zine!!
Keep the flames of hatred alive and burning!!

Black force - Cult of the Bloodstone

With firmly old school darkness the Black Force bring forth their
first demo called "Cult of the Bloodstone"!

It is only three songs and the third is a good Hellhammer cover so one gets
merely a hint of whats behinds Black Force great oak temple door but the
hints one gets is thankfully enough to warrant a hunger for more!!

Their sound is both echoing the past like Hellhammer and such
as well establish an own stable outpour of cavernous satanic heavy metal.
Head banger friendly but still serious though the solo on the first track feels
a bit out of place but at the same time its sudden melodic cut brings also
a unpredictable aura.
Dissonant and rockish hellspawns is flowing through this tape!

It has a sweet but solid old school product paper print and the tape has good sound, nice
also that the tape length is adjusted the the song numbers. you dont have to
fast forward or rewind at all when the last song is over.

From what i know Black Force have released a Ep also called "Keep the Banner of Old Hight" so more madness from the cult is out there!

Plus a split with Fröst Rot is in the works too!

I sure will try to check that out!

Released through the promising : Old Axe Cult Records!

Track list:

1.     Fullmoon Gathering     03:43
2.     Blood for the Beast     04:10
3.     Messiah (Hellhammer cover)     04:42

Carnal Tomb Interview!

1. Welcome to the lower depths of the RAW WAR crypt!
How goes the work with your upcoming demo 'Ascend'?

- M: well we have two songs up on Youtube, 2 more are almost done. We have to do the vocals and bass for them. Then it’s all going to be mixed and hopefully see daylight in around a month.

2. What have been the hard parts of the production and what have been smooth? And how would you describe Ascend´s rotten soul?

M: Well it was pretty hard getting Carnal Tomb going, Yves and me were in another band together before (Nuclear Penetration) and it took a while to realize I wanted to completely concentrate on my new project, which only had a few riffs at that time. I spent weeks testing with different guitar sounds and it wasn't clear what we were going to call this project.
Easy would be the wrong word, but it’s all moving forward smoothly. Obviously there are times when you aren't satisfied with something you write or record, but it's all taking form! Well that's it really. We wanted to play some groovy, rotten, dirty death metal.

Y: I think the hardest part is that we don’t have a lot of time to meet up and talk about the songs, improve them and then finally record the instruments and vocals. We both have other duties like University and Work. A lot of communication happens over the internet even though we live really close to each other. Marc is very committed, ambitious and knows what he wants.
Most of the ideas already stood before I joined in on the project. But I still have the freedom to add anything, change and form the songs according to my taste. This way of working together really benefits the project and we can both identify ourselves with it, even though it’s Marc’s ‚baby‘.

   3. Describe the bands sound and your background inspirations?

M: Obviously I am huge fan of old (Swedish) death metal. Like many of them, I use the Boss HM-2 Pedal because i feel it gives you the opportunity to create an extremely good guitar sound that works great with this kind of music.
You could say there is a recipe and this is our attempted at it. We aren't inventing anything new, but why completely change something you like already. Plus I’m not a huge fan of most current metal trends.

Y: I have to admit, I love the ‘metallic’ bass sound bands like Archspire and Decrepit Birth have. We have tried doing something similar here and there without destroying the old school vibe.

4. May not be easy but to pin-point ONE album which did get your ass into this type of morbid death metal?

- M: Well actually there is in my case.
I’ve known bands like Dismember for a couple of years now, but never really listened or appreciated them that much. I was more into American, British and Polish bands. But last year when Entrail's 'Raging Death' came out I was totally blown away and really got into that style of death metal.

Y: I think the first LP that really pulled me into the old school genre was Grave’s ‘’Soulless’’, terrific album! Marc got me going after that as well and Revel in Flesh’s ‘’Deathevocation’’ completed it. I enjoy the extremely deep vocals.

 5. I guess your not the same "Carnal Tomb" that splitted in 1995 which released one tape called "Flatulent Edemas of Ejaculation"?

- M: Haha nope, but since they only released one Demo, that we didn't find very good at all we found it shouldn't cause any problems. I actually had something with '..Tomb' as an idea and then found a song by Dismember called 'Carnal Tomb'.
It's my way of honoring such a great band. A lot of people in metal these days are forgetting their roots, which is really a shame.

 6. How did you meet up with each others? And how did you come to know the dudes of Filthdigger?

- M: Well like I said Yves and I played in a band before, after we recruited him at a concert. But in the unnamed, early stage of Carnal Tomb I quickly realized I didn't want to do this alone. So I asked him if he was interested! Funny story, I found Erik's old Band Dodsgap while researching about the HM-2. We talked ..and he has become somewhat of an unofficial member.
He listen's to all my ideas and keeps pushing me to make them better. Yves and I are big fans of Filthdigger, I even made his logo (which I hope he still likes!) It's a scandinavian/teutonic death metal alliance!

7. How is the death metal climate in your region?
Will it be hard to get places to play on when your ready?

- M: Well judging from the fact that we haven't got a full lineup I have to say it's not very good. This is hard to believe when you look at how many people live in Berlin.
There are huge gaps between the fans and a lot shit talk. But we hope the release of the demo will get us enough attention to get a drummer on board. But finding a place to play won't be hard at all then. We both know a lot of people that organize and host shows.

8. Besides Carnal Tomb have you other music projects in action or do have have some old & buried?

- M: I mentioned Nuclear Penetration and that band basically had to make way for Carnal Tomb.
I have a few ideas for some Black/Thrash... But that has time. I am totally living CT at the moment.

Y: Apart from NP, I played bass in a punkrock/punkcore band in 2006 for about a year.
Nothing wild, we didn’t have any recordings or gigs. But it helped with getting further as a bassist.
From 2009-2012 I played in a death metal band called “Defective”. It was a lot fun and really helped me progress…Great members, we played a few gigs and recorded 6 songs but we never published them because work pulled the band apart.
Two of the songs don’t even have vocals, but we thought it would be a shame to let those demos rot forever. So we published them as a free download on our Last.fm page, go check them out [just search: "Defective (Death Metal)"]!
The band spawned some great friendships like Tobias from “Ensireal” who is now mixing the Carnal Tomb songs.

9. So whats your closets plans now, finish the demo i presume? Will you contact some labels of so which do you have in mind?

 - M: Aye, we are going to finish recording the Demo.
I'm already writing new material and playing around with the sound again...But 'Ascend' is going to be the first checkpoint. We will send it to some Labels and spread the disease!
FDA Rekotz is the one where I think we would have the best chances.

I hope Rico will have a listen!

10. Thanks for your time!

- M/Y: Thank you for the support!

Plaguestorm - Bestial Exekution

As soon as the bitchin riffs starts on the first song "Whores of Christ" i knew this was great!

Nothing new and original but good in the old school way as in the first wave alá Venom & Bathory and also evidence is here from Motörheads clear influence over the black metal world!
So i guess you get a firmly close idea on which PlagueStorms weapon look & sounds like!
But besides from this "worship" i hear easily that these dudes has much of their own & personal power and fright!

The production is also fitting as it sounds as if they where playing to some extent in an burning cathedral or temple, so yeah there is quite much of harsh atmosphere and the feeling of sinister "space"  surrounding the wholeness of it all.
It is like an endlessly rolling witch bitch with her claws out and rips up the holy earth as she goes on...

And after listening to all the blistering guitars and hellish war drums with ghastly vocals combined this three song debut is an evil tease i say! Get it anyways if you can!

Gladly i just heard that Plaguestorm is already work on new music! So lets hope it contains more brimstone tracks on that release.

Bring it on!

Track list:

1.Whores of Christ 02:15

2.Bestial Exekution 04:28

3.Pestilent Death 04:34
